What-if’s, Should-have’s, and If-only’s

If I had a Time Machine….

What is your universal truth? What determines the person you honestly are?

The What-if’s, Should-have’s, and If-only’s are everywhere. They plague the mind with skepticism and regret. They tend to enforce false ideas and, hypothetically, failure in one’s self-growth. What I intend to say by this is that every individual has disputed themselves with these questions and phrases at least once. This even includes the heroes or greatest of people. But overall, what causes the difference of actions pursued by each individual? What makes them successful?

Life can give mercy but does not permit simple redos. Life is honestly so complex in its ways and means that we haven’t even completely figured them all out yet. With that in mind, people are afraid of their power of choice. Some suffer from the past, which ensues depression. Others suffer from the future, which ensues anxiety. So what can YOU do as a person to not hold self-detriment? The best plan of action would have to be living in the present and remaining true to your own person. What-if I change into someone I don’t want to be? Maybe I should’ve done that instead of this. If-only I could have known about that. These phrases plant seeds of doubt that lean to defy your true personality and who you really want to be.

I am not saying being cautious of your actions is entirely a bad thing. In fact, being cautious of your consequences can be a tremendously civil thing to do and that provides character. I am implying that living in the present simply allows a more stress-free environment, and that is incredible for an individual’s health. In no way I am telling you to have to live your life, I am just saying try opening your perspective! There is so much to do and happen in a lifetime, the only thing holding yourself back is adversity and most of the time, yourself. A great way to live is without regrets but in order to do something or be something great you have had to overcome obstacles somewhere down the road because nothing comes easy. These obstacles sometimes make you fail and you regret it.. but reflecting on it with these what-if’s, should-have’s, and if-only’s only breed: anger, resentment, depression, and the worst of your being. Having an outlook like “maybe I did fail or made a mistake, but now I am willing to try again or make my best attempt of amends in order to pass this obstacle” is generally all it takes. “In fact, I am going to do that right now. Yep right now.” This is living in the present.

What else does living in the present really allow for people to become so successful? As a person, I have only spectated great successful people and their ways, but I truly believe that when these people rid of these seeds of doubt, they release their true nature. They act kinder, they work harder, they attempt, they achieve. They want to live life more than anyone else can even comprehend. Although they became successful, they had never achieved by themselves. Somewhere along the line, someone told them that was doing justice for themselves. That, someone, had changed their reality by watching such a man or woman live like this. This is why I started with this blog idea because I have seen it in people and I have seen people disregard them.

One of my favorite quotes is “When you are good at something, you’ll tell everyone. When you are great at something, they’ll tell you.” by Walter Payton. This quote thoroughly describes my relationship with people. I try my best to be the kindest, inspirational, and most loyal person out there because I do not doubt that I am helping others. I don’t care if it only the least complicated thing I can help others with, I just try. We all have flaws, but making the best of them demonstrates your qualities as a human being. I know I am not a great or successful person. Actually, for those of you reading, my biggest dream is to become someone great. Yeah, it is really broad. It has no greater outcome. To be honest, I have zero clues on how to achieve that other than being myself, but I can’t be myself worrying on the what-if’s, should-have’s, and if-only’s all the time. Being yourself in the present, no matter the situation is your universal truth.

Hope y’all enjoyed the read (sorry it was quite lengthy) and it sounds fake but it really is how I perceive life. So that’s me and my blog so far!
